 Causes and treatment of piles and hemorrhoids

 

Piles are a pain in the bottom caused by pressure on the spongy lining and veins of the anus, causing these veins to become inflamed. Piles or hemorrhoids as they are also known can be found both inside and just outside the anus.

 

What causes piles?

 

Pressure on the spongy lining and veins of the anus, causing these veins to become inflamed this pressure could be due to being overweight, straining on the toilet, sitting on the toilet for two long, strenious activity like weight training, sitting for long periods and because of hormones in the blood and pressure on the abdomen pregnancy.

 

Symptoms of piles

 

Pain on the toilet, itching, a slimy discharge of mucas, in the case of internal piles passing of blood with external piles there is not so much bleeding but they are usually more painful and irritating.

Treatment

 

Piles can be treated in most cases with cream available from your pharmacist without prescription. Your doctor can treat piles by injection of an oily substance which causes the piles to shrink and fall off or by placing elastic bands above the piles to cut off blood supply and dry them out. In severe cases piles need to be treated by a surgical procedure.
